Our volunteers home for the week

We booked our volunteering through an Cape Town SA volunteering organisation, Aviva. this year they are 10 years old and doing a great job building a small and very considered portfolio of volunteer projects here in S.A. a big plus for us tagging on this Cape Town week with them so here we are in the shared Vol'ees house in the fab location of Table View. Volunteers are all ages from 18 to 82, yep only a couple of weeks ago the house was home to an 82 year old lady working on the School feeding project. It's a great place, cool atmosphere, get to meet some interesting and fun people so it's incredibly warm, relaxed and friendly. Rholene was our key contact before our trip and was super helpful, Keenan picked us up from the airport and was very informative (a real young gent!), Megan takes care of the house during the week, she's a real asset to the project, is fun firm and fair & also known as 'mum' (in a caring kind of way). Then there's Ed, the co-owner of Aviva who came to meet us on our first day. Originally from the UK, once in the Navy, came to Cape Town, volunteered at Sanccob (Penguin & bird sanctuary & now one of the Aviva volunteer projects), met the original owner of Aviva, joined forces to grow and establish the volunteering portfolio. One thing we know, when we come back to Cape Town in the future (& we'll definitely be back) we'll be volunteering again with Aviva, maybe at the Home of Hope project looking after abandoned, orphaned & abused babies or the Baphumalele or Masigcine childrens home projects both based in townships on the outskirts of Cape Town.
